Quilted Love

Bed of Sue Daly of Timber. Check out Design Sponge for more pics of her super-sweet crib.
If there is one thing I believe in, it's the healing qualities of a well-made bed. Unfortunately right now my bed is a tangled, unmade mess, and the sheets still smells like smoke from the bonfire at Jaimie and Vanessa's (fabulous) housewarming party last night. I wish it was perfectly made, freshly sheeted and adorned with a georgeous colourful quilt just like this one. I think, maybe, when I'm finished with this mountain of wedding invitations, I shall make a quilt of my own. Can't be that hard, right?

I think a little bit of wee just came out.

La fun times.

I'm in a superb mood this evening my fine lovers. Maybe it's because i've a tummy full of yummy treats. Maybe it's because i've reunited with my charming man. Or maybe it's because of this fine, fine lady La Roux.

Yeah, her songs all kind of sound the same but whoa! She'll KAPOW you with DANCE!

Watch this video clip. AROUSING!

Oh, to sleep the clock around...

The Sleeping Beauty by Edward Burne-Jones

Right now, to me this image is perfection. Every particle of my body is exhausted.
I'll pay you in witty blog posts to finish my assignments...
xx Your (non) sleeping beauty.

I have not embraced the Twitter phenomenon at all, but Karl Lagerfeld may just have changed my mind. His pearls of wisdom are hilarious and amazing.

Spend a few minutes reading this, you will not be disappointed.

Some pearls (for those of you who can't be bothered to click the link. I know, I'm one of those people.) ~

My dream? Transparent fur. The hair on plastic and not on leather. We’ve tried, but nobody has found it yet.

Florals are for middle-aged women with weight problems.

Believe it or not, I love rap.

Can't get enough Karl? Then you MUST read these.

tea in bed

As Julia mentioned, Jaimie and I have indeed moved into a delightful little cottage recently and have not had any Internet (it has been VERY tough), but we do now and I have no more excuses not to post! Though this is kind of a lazy post...not much writing, all pictures!

What I'm loving ~

simple flowers on the mantelpiece

my great new (secondhand) sunglasses. A surprise gift from my sister

these seriously fantastic wedges, a secondhand treasure I found recently and now can't stop wearing!

ikea chair

honey on toast

rumpled sheets and tea in bed

All photos taken by moi, with the kind assistance of Nick's awesome camera...Watch out, I may steal it...

Ring a ding ding!

I've have recently been given the flattering and rather daunting task of designing and hand-illustrating the invitations (and RSVP cards and thank you cards and bridal shower invites) for a friend's wedding. The most exciting aspect of this whole process is the fact that it has given me the perfect excuse to indulge one of my greatest, and until now very secret, guilty pleasures: wedding blogs.

Oh yes, it's pathetically true. There is nothing the princess in me enjoys more than wading gleefully through a virtual ocean of taffeta, bouquets, veils, ridiculously flamboyant three story cakes and beautiful homemade wedding ideas. And to give you the benefit of my extensive 'research', I present to you some aspects of my dream wedding. If you are given to squirmishness, I recommend you look away now:

I feel like I should follow this post up with a disclaimer that I, in no way, intend to be tying any knots soon. I simply have an objective appreciation for lovely stylish weddings, just as I have an objective appreciation for beautiful, rosy cheeked babies. And there is NOTHING WRONG WITH THAT. NOTHING.

Anyway, I shall keep you posted on the invitation progress. I must say, I have a chaotic cacophony of brilliant ideas swimming around in my little head. Right now, though, I'm thinking: cream lace, stitching, rustic paper and delicate spring bulbs (it's a September wedding) with pops of yellow and white.

An Update and an Albert

If you're wondering why we haven't been round much lately, well, listen up 'cause I'm about to tell you why we haven't been round much lately.

Vanessa and Jaimie, my sisters in blogging, have recently moved into a lovely little cottage around the corner from my lovely little cottage. At this stage I believe they are without an internet connection, hence their silence on this subject. But stay tuned and watch this space, because they'll be getting one soon and I'm sure they have lots of fun to share.

And I have started a new job (yes, little old me, a job!), and thus sometimes tire of looking into a white screen and typing with my fingers. Plus I have just been, frankly, very lazy.

But fear not my sweets, for there is a veritable party bag of excellent posts in store for you. And I'm talking the best kind of party bag, the all bangers no mash type; filled with delicious (non-Homebrand, non-Black and Gold) delights, a fudgey, home cooked brownie wrapped in paper, and a novelty item far removed from the boring, flaccid balloons of yore. Oh, and stickers. A shit load of stickers. It's going to be one sweet, sweet, candy-coloured ride.
