Okay, you win this round hype

I'll admit, it took me a fair while to move from naysayer, to Yeasayer. A lot of their music annoys the frack out of me, this one however I love.

I wish Rev could be more like this...

Happy Friday-eve.

Why the devil are you all getting married?!

What the deuce?

Each time I log on to Facebook there seems to be a never ending stream of photos of newly married peeps. All of whom I might add, are roughly the same, young, sprightly age as myself. I just don't know what is going on. I'm feeling so freakin' young I don't like the idea of seeing someone and attaching a title to the relationship, let alone having a ceremony and putting an expiry date on your relationship. An expiry date reached at DEATH! No sir, no thank you.

Though, I guess it's okay if you're a mega-Christian-virgin-babe.

Peace out.

I love him but he'd make a terrible boyfriend: men in skirts

I love Marc Jacobs but...

Good afternoon distinguished guests.

Ahh, procrastination. I've eaten some toast, drank some tea, cleaned my room, visited my favourite blogs, face-stalked my crushes and now here we are.

This is the next post in a series of utter genius. You may recall my past brilliance here. However, today I'm going to be a little more specific...

The current fashion trend causing controversy perfectly reflects why 'I love him but he'd make a terrible boyfriend'. Men in skirts. Talk about having some serious balls! I LOVE them. But fuck me, I could never date one.

Melbourne Street Fashion
PS- this man is actually wearing pants (!). This however, does not change the fact he is HOT, but untouchable.

No, give me this picture of perfection any day. He's such a dream boat! I can tell he'd make a fantastic boyfriend on his bow tie/boater combination alone. I applaud you while swooning young man!

What are your takes on this trend? Love them? Hate them? Could you date them?

Geometrica

xx

It's been a long time since I've lusted after anything sartorial, but my body seems to be craving an adornment of brightly colored triangles, squares and clean, clean lines.

Massive ATTACK!

Heh, that title was fun to write.

On a much more serious note, has anyone listened to Heligoland yet? It's pretty tits. Like Jessica Alba tits, not weird alien Madonna tits. Eww.

Things I know about Massive Attack;
  • I like to think that I grew up listening to Massive Attack
  • As an angsty, angsty teen I was convinced that the song "Protection" was written about me (that would have been fucking cool)
  • Massive Attack in 2003 was my second ever concert
  • Inertia Creeps is one of my favourite songs of all time
  • I would be a lesbian for Liz Fraser
  • Band member 3D used to 'paint' with Banksy
  • My housemate Nick thinks that '3D' is a pretty crap name
  • Vanessa isn't really into 'trip hop'
Oh, did I mention that I'm going to see them again THIS FRIDAY (the 19th) AT THE ROYAL THEATER IN CANBERRA. Stoked! What I'm not so stoked about is that my friends are all too lame to come with me. So, I'm going alone. All independent woman like. Unless! Oh. my. god. I have an idea. Massive Attack are high lords of cool, I'm super flipping cool, you're reading this blog so you must be pretty cool, YOU SHOULD COME WITH ME!!!!!

In case you needed any sort of motivation other than being my hot date for the night, check out this video....

See you Friday

Roller skating is my life

I have no idea where this picture is from, but isn't it just THE most amazing thing you've ever seen?

Okay kids, listen closely. I have a secret to tell you. I have a dream and in this dream I am roller derby champion of the WORLD! Not sure if this title exists yet, but it will and I will own it.

Long story short is I'm starting a roller derby fresh meat course next Tuesday. I'm beyond excited, though also incredibly nervous. I'll keep y'all posted on how it goes. Hopefully by the end of the course I will look like this...

or maybe this...

Either way, yay roller derby! Now to think of a name... All suggestions are welcome. Maybe I'll run a poll.

Check out my local derby league site here.

Death of the Summer

Cherubs,

It's over. Summer has died and so has my freedom. Even though I am absolutely ready to embrace my favourite season Autumn, I can't help but morn the loss of what has been my best Summer.

This mix put together a few years ago by my favourite indie dream boat Jens Lekman always helps me deal with the loss I feel transitioning from Summer to Autumn. I hope it helps you with your transition too. If you live in Canberra, I'll see you out frolicking in the leaves in a few weeks. Canberra is best dressed in Autumn.
